The Publication of The Watcher is Here!
Carlsbad, CA, August 7, 2022
Ava’s second novel, The Watcher is a thriller book based on the notion that we can get lost in our service to others. We can forget our identities and the deservedness of the whole human experience. Of course with an action-packed thriller plot weaved in.
More than once, she felt someone watching her. But what woman hasn’t?
Since her husband’s death, Maggie Becker has tried to make her daughter Emily’s life as normal as possible. Finally, with her daughter grown and heading off to college, Maggie can focus on healing and living again. But first, she makes one last gift, a photo book for her daughter. What she finds in the pictures makes the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end.
A stranger lurks in too many photos to be a coincidence. In fact, he’s been a constant, unknown presence since the death of her husband. Trusting her intuition, she hires a private investigator. Maggie turns from a mother excited to watch her daughter launch into adulthood, to a race to save her family from harm. Afraid to include the authorities for fear the watcher will murder her daughter, she must do it herself. Because the killer is always near. Maggie has the photos to prove it. Emily would be dead before her mother finished the phone call. The more Maggie digs, the more secrets she finds.
What her husband kept from her may kill them all.

Pre-launch Party for The Watcher
San Diego, CA, July 23, 2022
The Watcher came into this world with a bang (giveaways, cupcakes, refreshments, and more). We had a pre-launch party in San Diego where the attendees discussed the inspiration and process (as well as enjoyed some food and drink). Attending book launch parties is a great opportunity for people to connect in person. Another great way to connect with authors on a deeper level on their books is to host a book club. If you have a book club and would like an author visit (either remote or in-person) contact me for details at [email protected].

The Publication of a FREE Novella: One Last Call
Carlsbad, CA, May 16, 2022

Ava’s free thriller Novella, One Last Call, takes a look at life before and after social media. Is social media and technology our salvation, or damnation?
He’d followed her home before. Things happened in Mary’s part of town, sometimes terrible things. Animals went missing, people got robbed, and unless they were teenagers who thought nothing could happen to them, no one walked alone at night. She wandered from the protection of her friends, and now it was time to pay for laughing at him. The lion stepped out from behind the bushes.
After forty-two years, it was time to retire. He’d had so many girls that they blended together. But Morgan with those moss green eyes peppered with flecks of gold, she’d be his grand finale.

The Publication of my Debut Novel, Thick as Water
Carlsbad, CA, July 12, 2021
Ava’s debut novel, Thick as Water is the culmination of her career as a civil servant and her concern about the increasing presence of technology in our lives. She worked for nearly 20 years in the government in various IT roles. While she has a long list of initials behind her name (MBA, PMP, FAC-PM, etc.), she rarely uses them. When not reading or writing, Ava enjoys walking along the beach in San Diego where she calls home. I would like you both to come in. For Agnes and Liam, life is never the same after these words. In one afternoon, every vow in their marriage is a challenge: For worse. For poorer. In sickness.
Agnes and Liam must confront unexpected challenges and decide: Will they choose each other? Is their marriage worth everything they’ve worked for in this life? How private is information on the internet? Is technology stripping away life’s mysteries a blessing or a curse?
The story grapples with the ever-blurring line between privacy and the media. It tackles the big questions of the rising popularity of medical and DNA testing coupled with ongoing cybersecurity threats.
If light is cast on their dark past, will it take away its power, or destroy their lives?
